Using AI and voice commands to control playback

Hi folks,

I use MuseScore to rehearse and it work but it’s slow to adjust.

With the existence of Siri Alexa it is possible to control music playback from an MP3 player with a voice command, so why not MuseScore too?

I’m with a quartet and it would be so much faster to use the intuition of voice to say things like “play the bass line and piano only from bars 55 to 75 in a loop”, rather than picking the start and end with a mouse and keyboard the clicking on the loop button, and muting or soloing parts as desired.

The advantage for us is changing what we hear and play quickly. Sometimes one of us needs to drill a bit and then return to full harmony. The human brain tends to forget what it did in the lag between doing and adding another part, or at least mine does.

Is this possible already?

Not that I know of.
I imagine it would add a complex level of programing to make that happen. My Alexa can start and stop a song. But can't start in a particular place in that song. It's bad enough that she's always listening.

That's such a great idea....and honestly, you're not alone in wishing for something more intuitive like voice control in MuseScore! 🎶 The whole “Hey Muse, loop bars 55–75 and solo cello” kind of vibe would be a total game-changer for rehearsals, especially in small ensembles like yours where flexibility is everything.

Right now, MuseScore doesn’t natively support voice commands, but your thinking is spot on — with Alexa, Siri, and even some open-source voice tools out there, it feels like we’re not that far off. Until someone hooks it up with voice control, maybe using a MIDI controller or programmable hotkeys could speed things up a bit? Not as slick as saying it out loud, but a small step toward that seamless experience you're after.
