Playback issue - note does not sound, other voices intrude

• Apr 9, 2024 - 11:59

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.2.1-240230937, revision: d757433
Using Muse Sounds.

To reproduce: Open the attached score. Select the Bass 1 line only. Press Play.
In bar 5, the C plays very briefly and is then silent. Same for D in bar 6.
Bass 2 intrudes at the end of bar 6. This is an extract from a larger score, in other saved copies, selecting only Bass 1 still finds Bass 2 being played.
(Edit: changed Bass to MS Basic and the C sounds stuttering, bass 2 still plays)
If this is a corrupted score, how can I fix it? What is involved in eg copying and pasting everything into a clean score, given that I'd have to prepare the empty score with elements that do not come across in copy & paste such as key signatures or tempo markings?
Maybe export to some other format and re-import? I tried export to MXL and open that but it sounds the same, and the bar lines now extend all the way down the score.

You have one bass with two staves, but need two basses with one staff each
One bass can't play/sing a note short and long at the same time...

I checked my instruments and indeed have only one of each S A T B . I've no idea how I did that, as you say probably just added a stave to each part rather than a separate voice. I expect the solution is to add four voices, cut & paste from the second stave of each to the new voices, then delete the excess staves. I may have to manually bracket them, I'll find out.

For your 6 measure score, I did this:
1. Added another bass vocal to the score from the "I" routine. Interestingly enough it doesn't show in the score. but it is in the mixer.
2. In the score, I opened Parts and created a new bass part. Parts>Create new part.
3. Open the new part and it is six empty measures.
4. In the score, copy the lower bass measures. Go back to the new part and copy into it.
5. in the score, select the lower bass part and delete.

When I did this the new bass vocal appeared in the score. Already bracketed. Assign the bass sound in the mixer to the new bass channel.
