Custom characters

I want to make a series of characters with a long dash in front, slanted up/down (indicating sliding lefthand fingers on the guitar). I can make the character (see attached image), and save it as a png or svg. A png comes in with a white background and I need the background to be transparent. An svg comes in and I can increase/decrease the size... however I can't move it where I want. It "sticks" to wherever I put it when I click-and-dragged it into MuseScore. Thoughts about how I can go about this?

Sounds like a bug from the MuseScore4 guys (Older versions can drag svgs fine).
You in the meantime can perform offsets through the Properties panel by choosing "Appearance":

Also via the master palette there might be some options you could use for the purpose depending on what you're going for. Like

"Time Signature Fraction Slash" found in the master palette:

looks kind of okay when placed into a staff tex before a numeral, then use superscript on the slash and increase its size. You could do this to a fingering text and then add it back into the palette for future use:

And finally, there's "Slide from below" in the Arpeggios and Glissando palette. That + some vertical offset in the Properties could also be an option. At any rate, who knows—maybe not being able to click+drag is "by design" now. Good luck!
