playback tempos

Hi. I find that if I set a tempo in a compound time signature, (i.e 6/8 @ dotted crotchet = 60 bpm), the score will playback at crotchet = 60 bpm. which will be significantly slower.
Is there a way for playback to recognise the dotted note as the pulse?
