Systems per page
In general, I'm quite happy with composing in Continuous view, and not switching to page view until most of the entries are done. MSS does a 95% satisfactory layout for me. But now, I have a score with (on the second page) 4 systems, 4 measures each, with a remaining 4 measure system on the last page. I want to move that last system to the previous page. I can do it by allowing 5 measures per system, but that really isn't what I want. I would like to move that last system to page 2. I've watched the videos, and looked at the handbook, but I can't find an easy way to do it. Even reducing the minimum space between systems doesn't get me where I want to be. (And while I'm on that topic, can the respacing be done between two or three systems, or is it global?)
Anyway, is there a simple one- or two-button way to make this happen? In Finale, I could drag staves and systems independently, to fix this sort of thing.

About the only other thing you can do is right click on a blank space on the score. Select Page Settings and take the scaling down two notches. That makes the first page look a little crowded, I know.

Thanks for that. As you said, the first page is pretty jammed. I guess what I’m asking for is a way to override the spacing settings, and move things where I want them. The barbershop notation manual recommends three systems on page one, and four on all following pages. Is there a way to achieve that?

Isn't that what you described you have? Three systems on page one, four on page two, and "the rest" on page three. Only way to get around this is to increase the number of measures per system.

OK. I’ll keep playing with it, and hope for new capabilities in the future. Thanks for the help. At least now, I know I’m not missing a simple trick!

It's going to be tough. Attached is a 3 page version. 2 would be better, I suppose. But with the constraints of staves per page and measures per line.
You might also adjust the page boarders. As well as the scaling

And would this suit you? 1How We Sang Today.mscz
The use of locks systems should absolutely not be the alpha and omega of putting a layout into action, at least not until you're completely satisfied with this layout.
I've removed all these locks systems, I haven't changed the default scaling, only changed the “Minimum measure width” parameter in Format / Style / Measures. And the addition of two system breaks on page 2. This gives me a nice balance (in my opinion!) in 2 pages, with four systems per page and a consistent distance between staves.
It's never too late to add locks systems, if desired.

Allowing 5 measures per line helps quite a bit. Without changing anything else. I'm sure working with all the various settings will get you what you want. Good luck.
