Extending the first ending bracket

• Jul 6, 2025 - 06:45

Hello all. I happen to have an 11 bar 1st ending in my song. But I cannot extend the bracket for the 1st ending past the system that it's on. I can manually add another bracket, but I cannot delete the number, so it looks like I inserted another 1st ending, which is not the case.

Is there a way to do this? I understand there was such a feature in MuseScore 3, but now there isn't?

By "bracket", do you mean a Volta?
How are you placing and adjusting the volta?

This works: select the measures that you want to apply it to and click on the volta in the Lines palette.
This works: drag a volta from the palette then select it and extend with [Shift][RightArrow].
This doesn't work: select the volta and use the mouse to drag its corner to the right.

As mentioned above:
1. Click on the first of the 11 bars, then Shift + click on the last of the 11 bars
2. Single-click on the Volta symbol in the Lines palette.
With 4.5.2, it works here and has always worked with previous versions.

Well, I use 3.6.2, 3.7 and 4.5.2 and it's the same behavior in all of them!

See here, first half has a volta at the beginning or a score, second half with an extra bar at the beginning. This video is made with 4.5.2.

EDIT: I don't know why the video is not working ,,, - Now it's working :-)

Well, that wasn't the question at all, nor was it a playback problem. The user was unable to extend the Volta over 2 systems, I quote him (“But I cannot extend the bracket for the 1st ending past the system that it's on ”), which is perfectly possible as shown in the image above.
