The first bar line of each system does not extend down to the lower limit (10). It does extend up to the upper limit (-2) and all the other bar lines extend as they should. I am using OS X 10.9.5 and Musescore 2 Revision 1eoc609.

Comments

Scores: Beethoven's piano sonatas no 29 movement 3, no 30 movement 3, no 31 movement 3, no 32 movement 2.
Steps: Select first bar line of any system. Open inspector, and set 'span to' to 10.

I don't have those scores. I'm guessing you got them from musescore.com, but could you please post them here as an attachment, or at least a link to the specific page you downloaded them from?

If by 'first bar line" you mean the system barline all the way to the left, I don't think it is indented that you be able to edit those at all - in fact, nothing should appear in Inspector when you select them. It is possible older builds still allowed you to select them. Are you using the Beta? The version number you posted resembles the version number of the beta, but it isn't it exactly. BTW, the correct span for barlines in a five-line staff should be to 8. 0 is the top line, 2 the next (1 is the space between), etc.

Thanks for your prompt responses.
I am using the beta - 2.0 b1 revision 1efc609.

You are right - the scores are downloaded from Musescore. The links are:
http://musescore.com/classicman/scores/123918
http://musescore.com/classicman/scores/66291
http://musescore.com/classicman/scores/130035
http://musescore.com/classicman/scores/140375

But I assume the same applies to any piano score. I just downloaded
http://musescore.com/user/65675/scores/478791
and I can extend the system barline up but not down with this score too.

If it is an unintended accident, then for me it is a happy one. By extending the defaults I can convert the treble and bass clefs into two (identical) six line staves by adding a line at -2 above the treble and another at 10 below the bass. I find that makes the music much easier to read.

OK, well, again, it it is not supposed to be possible to edit the span of the initial barline at all, and in current builds, you should see that the Inspector is empty when you select an initial barline.

If you wish to create a non-standard six line staff, you are certainly welcome to do so, and the initial barline should (and does, for me, in current builds) automatically adjust.

So if you are still seeing any issues in this area in a current build, please post the precise steps to reproduce the problem.

OK.

I look forward to the final version but meantime I'm unable to download the current nightly builds - I presume that is because they are for Windows and I am using OS X...

For your information, after a score has been saved and re-opened the extended bar lines always return to their default span.

Thanks for your consideration and support - much appreciated.
