Musescore 0.9.6, rev 2811
Mixer panel shortcut is set to "M" which traps out keypresses in things like chords (f-m-maj7) or when entering other text, such as system text.
Solution: re-map mixer to command-option-M. Or whatever it was in previous version.

M is no more a shortcut for mixer when you are in text edit mode in the current trunk.
