changing intruments across clefs
The staff properties - change instruments function works fine provided that your are changing within the same clef, but I can't make it work across clefs. I can't change instruments from, say, a viola in alto clef to a tenor saxophone in treble clef, or from, say, cello in bass cleff to baritone saxophone in trebble clef.
I've tried various procedures, changing clef first then changing instruments, changing instruments first then changing clefs, but just nothing happens and the notes/score simply remain in the original clef and pitch.
I should be grateful for advice how to do this, or to be advised that it's not possible if it isn't.
Thanks

I created a new score for viola and added a C to the score. I changed the instrument to tenor sax. It changed the key signature and notes correctly but did not change the clef (as noted in bug 4954 ). I changed the clef afterward using the standard method described in the handbook .
Although it takes two steps, the notes appear as expected for me. (Tested using r. 3002 nightly, Windows 7)

I must remember to try these things with the latest nightly before posting !! It doesn't work with 0.9.6, but it does with the nightly. Thanks again.

Just to be clear, the stable version 0.9.6 is not yet released. You might have been using a prerelease or nightly .

Yes you're right. I can't use the latest issue, 0.9.5 beccaue it crashes my comuter to a blue screen reboot every 2 or 3 times I load it. So I've been using the pre release 0.9.6 which doesn't crash, (or hasn't done yet). I also downloaded nightly r2988 a while back to check something, and used it to check this transposition across clefs issue after your post, but otherwise don't use it for anything. Hopefully 0.9.6 is getting close to release status.
