Can I change a note's voice?

• May 20, 2010 - 17:12

I imported a two-voice MIDI file into MuseScore, but it has assigned all of the notes in the score to voice 1.

Is there a way to select the notes that should be voice 2 and change them?
I can delete and reenter the notes as voice 2, but that seems like a lot of work.

Unfortunately you would have delete and re-enter the notes as voice 2 in current versions of MuseScore.

It would be nice if you could click to select a note in normal mode (not note entry mode) and then click on the voice button in the toolbar to switch the voice. This would match the behavior of the duration buttons in the toolbar.

I remember this topic coming up once before in the forums. However I wasn't able to find the page anymore.

It turns out I was incorrect about the multiple voices. I loaded the MIDI file into a copy of Sibelius First. It somehow determines how to divide the notes into different voices, maybe by analyzing overlapped notes?

I've attached the midi file and the renderings from Sibelius and MuseScore so you can see what they do. Now that I think about it, I don't understand how Sibelius is able to figure out how to render the score as it is supposed to.

Also, the MIDI file uses a treble-8 clef (for guitar) and MuseScore sees it as a bass clef. I changed it to a treble clef before taking the screen snapshot.
