symbols appear strangely in the entry palettes
The preview window of several of the symbol palettes do not display the correct symbols, making it difficult to know what one is selecting. For example, in some palettes the symbol either doesn't show at all or is replaced by some random symbol (the Key Signatures seem to be using short beams instead of the sharp or flat symbol.
If I hover my mouse over a selection, the pop-up dialog box will tell me what it is and it enters correctly on my score, so it seems the palette is not accessing the correct fonts for some reason. I have attached an example of what I see on my screen. I am using the latest version. Please advise.

One possibility is that MuseScore's settings have somehow become corrupted. If so, it's necessary to run the factory reset process to fix it. It could also be some kind of conflict with fonts on your system—do you happen to have a font called Bravura installed outside of MuseScore?
Factory Reset didn't change anything, and I looked in my fonts folder for the Bravura font. There seems to be only one font by that name in there (Bravura Regular) and it appears to be a text font. Is this what is supposed to be there? What is the music font for MuseScore called?
Easy check: rename that font and see whether MuseScore behaves better then. If it does: culprit found, get rid of it.
The fonts are Bravura.otf and BravuraText.otf. BravuraRegular is an embedded subset or Bravura.otf, BravuraTextRegular an embedded subset of BravuraText.otf, so yes, this likely is the culprit.
