System requirements and safety issues

• Jul 21, 2015 - 22:37

Hello,
I'm new in this forum. I would like to download Muse in my computer but I have some concerns regarding safety and system requirements.
First of all, my computer is running with Windows Vista Starter, 32 bits. Is my system compatible with the version of Musescore available for download?
Secondly, I'm concerned about the risks of getting my computer infected with a worm or spyware programmes.
Last but not least, can I create orchestral scores with this programme, with different clefs??

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome!

First, the latest version of MuseScore will probably work on your system, but is not officially supported—see https://musescore.org/en/download#Minimum-requirements. Older versions of MuseScore are also available if need be, or you could upgrade your operating system.

Second, as long as you download from the official site (this one!) you don't need to worry. In general, don't download software from third-party websites.

Last, absolutely and of course! That's what the "Score" in the name stands for. ;-) I recommend the video tuorial series MuseScore in Minutes to get used to MuseScore quickly. Also, when you first create a score you'll find there are built-in orchestral templates offered to you: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/create-new-score-0#templates
