Quaver (8th note) rest? HELP!

Hello

I am desperately trying to enter a quaver rest in the middle of a bar, and am finding this impossible! What I need is - quaver, quaver, rest, quaver, quaver, quaver - so the rest should be on beat 2 but it keeps shifting itself to the and of 2. Very frustrating... can anyone help, please????

this may be a mis-understanding of where the cursor is.

If you are in "edit" mode, and have selected a quaver, and you are on the 2nd beat, simply press the space bar - that will advance the cursor an eighth distance, leaving a rest.
