Yes MuseScore is compatible with Linux Mint. You should be able to install the latest version from the Ubuntu PPA. Find instructions here https://musescore.org/en/node/75936
I have a 2nd desktop running Linux MInt 17 (Qiana), and I have 2.0.2 installed. Music notation-wise, everything seems to work. (Playback is another story, but I suspect it's a hardware issue, not a MuseScore issue. If I have time, I'll open a new thread about it.)
