In the nightly build (3597) adding a regular guitar staff (not tab) adds a staff with 6 lines and a treble clef.
Go to staff properties
it says it's 'Pitched 5 lines',
click 'edit'
it shows pitched 6 lines.
change to 5 lines
click ok edit staff type
click ok on staff properties
crash

Here is a patch that fixes the problem.
I see the standard notation staves for guitar and bass have tablature information in the instruments.xml file. Is this intentional?
johnnygizmo's patch removes the tablature information from the guitar staff, but I'm cautious about committing it without understanding the code or plans for the tablature.

fixed in 3654. Staff type editing is still incomplete and may not work as expected.
