Audio capability

Hi!!!

I know MuseScore is a "Beautiful Printed Music Scores" first intention software. Yes, I know.

BUT... As the final result of MuseScore is the best scores we can get today, into the free software world and the fact that MuseScore is used, primarily, by musician... then...

I wonder if I would ask too much if I'd ask an audio file capability, in parallel and synchronized with the typical on-screen score.

I mean: (try to follow my idea)

1) Some human being asks me the music score of some specific song.

2) I look for the song score on Internet and... Voila!!! The score of that song doesn't exist!!! In my country, there isn't a custom to get printed music score on the standard retail. It is very difficult to get one.

3) BUT... I have the audio of the song.

4) So... I can hear the song... once, twice, three times and so, and on... up I can get it into my brain.

5) Then I use MuseScore to write the notes.

Wouldn't it be so nice if we could put the audio file, in some part of the MuseScore working area, to get that audio file sounds each time we click on the MuseScore play button, without to have to use another external audio playing software? ???

Of course, it would be better if we would have synchronized the tempo of the audio file with the tempo of MuseScore.

Am I asking too much? ???

Or... Is this a possible thing today (and I missed something here)? ???

Greetings & Blessings from Chile!!!!!!!

Juan

I know lasconic did something where he used jack to sync mscore playback with a video:

I don't know the details of that, but I could image a similar technique could be used to sync the song with an external audio player that speaks the same protocol.

I'm not a fan of software that tries to do too many things. I think better to use open protocols that allow smaller programs to speak to each other. So I think better solution is to have an easy way to use jack or something to trigger playback in another audio player.
