Selecting all notes is exactly what "All similar elements* is *supposed to do. Not sure what you expected.
Definitely, in the futuire please use the Support forum (Help / Ask for Help from within MuseScore) when asking for help. Only use the issue tracker (Help / Report a Bug) once something has been confirmed to be an actual bug and not just a misunderstanding.
I guess it might be expected that if you select the note A, then want to select all similar, that this results in all As being selected. However, this is not how MuseScore works.
