Bug- Bass Vocal F beeps

• Oct 15, 2015 - 02:43

I've been re-writing some SATB music with the Bass Vocal Instrument in Musescore and noticed for the F in the bass staff there is a beep that occurs about 1/2 way through the note. It is high pitched and most probably can't hear it, but now that I know it's there its very noticeable. My guess is it's in the file for that note. I attached the score if you want to hear it for yourself.

Running Windows 10 if that makes a difference.

Indeed - I'm amazed that I haven't noticed it myself!

A quick test with Viena reveals that the problem is at sample level in the soundfont.

Choir Aahs is on the list for eventual replacement when suitably licensed samples are found.

It's not just one frequency though - these glitches are comprised of several, and working out what they are is extremely time-consuming.

Remapping that particular sample out of the instrument seems to have worked well, and a slight attenuation to the lower of the adjacent samples has also removed the volume dip we referred to.

Confirmed: on the E and F and F# below middle C. The rogue notes sound an octave higher.

There also seems to be a volume dip on the C# to D# just above middle C.
