You do not hear anything bc. no sounfont is configured. I guess the default soundfont in preferences is empty.
It seems to me that the preference soundfont is reset sometimes but cannot reproduce this.
Not really. When I enter notes, I have no problem, I hear the sound. When I go to display->synthesizer, I see the default soundfont. I only have no sound when I press play and the cursor does not move.
