When composing for an existing playback, it would be fine, when the playback audio (in mp3 or other formats) could be played while playing the composed notes.
You can sync MuseScore with another applications via JACK Transport. If you open your audio file in Qtractor/Ardour or other application that supports JACK, you'll get what you wanted.
