Tie does not display properly until after save and reload

STR:
1. set up score in 4/4, piano, both staves.
2. Enter write mode.
3. Write a bar with a quarter note on the last beat of a bar.
4. Press "8" to set the next entry duration to a breve (double whole note).
5. Press your "tie" shortcut.

Expected result.
Quarter note should tie to whole note in next bar which ties to whole note in next bar.
