HELP! Can I convert my exported PDF back to a musescore file?

• Feb 25, 2016 - 13:54

I messed up, and deleted most of my score without realising, then clicked save.

I had previously exported the score as a PDF to send to someone so I have most of it there - Can I IMPORT the PDF back into a .mscz file?

Thanks in advance

In Musescore 2 yes, under File --> Import PDF...

There is an online converter form pdf to mscz. You have to create an account using it. I think with an in Musescore generated pdf you will get quite well results.

Thank you for the speedy replies.

I'd had trouble finding the back up scores, but followed the guide to find it and there was one with just about enough of the score on it, so problem solved.

I had tried some pdf to mscz software to no avail, but it's all sorted

Thanks again

There is an experimental online service that tries to do that, available from File > Import PDF… within MuseScore, but the results are of uncertain quality (and use a variety of unusual style settings). However, your best bet is probably to look for the last saved version of the score as described at https://musescore.org/en/node/52116 (the second half of the page).

There is a "File" menu, it's the one on the left. The menu has an item that says "Import PDF" that will take you to MuseScore.com where you can upload a PDF for import. It does not work well and from what I understand almost never works for PDF with several pages. The last one I tried had 3 pages and it failed. Poor quality PDFs are almost certain to fail, high quality ones might succeed.
