Eighth note stems

• Oct 30, 2015 - 17:58

Hi everyone,

In the attached photo, I want to get rid of the curly part of the eighth note stems. How do I do this?

I find doing measures like these VERY convoluted and difficult--seems you need to do a lot of fiddling with beams and other things after the fact. It took me a long time to do four measures, even after entering the notes as per the instructions :(

Hint: After adding rehearsal marks, I get one rehearsal mark over each beat of the bar???? For example, I want G, but I get G, H, I, J, K, L !!!! Is it because I select the whole bar? I thought that's what you were supposed to do, and then double click the Rehearsal Mark icon.

Thanks

- Lee

I guess you're having those 8th notes in different voices (but to be sure we'd Need to see the score, not a picture of it), so some are beamed, others not, but stemms in the same direction.
either put them into the same voice or select the flags and hit v to make them invisible or select the notes and hit x to turn the stems to the other side

To be clear: voices are normally used needed only if you want the notes *not* to be combined onto one stem - to show separate stems. Most often, that would be because there are independent rhythmic figures happening. but just to show multiple notes happening at once does not need voices - just chords.

Select a note in the bar, not the whole bar for rehearsal letters.

The flag on the stem shows you have 2 voices on that note. Either right click on the flag and set invisible or change to one voice and add the notes to one chord.

:)
