Right-click on any staff and choose "Pianoroll Editor…" from the context menu.
Zack is correct, but be aware that editing is currently limited to note length.
My intention is to use the piano roll also for composing like a normal sequencer.

Better to use an actual sequencer, then, and then import the resulting MIDI file. Although as with any sequencer, it's not a very good way of representing standard notation - no difference between F#, no way to represent note lengths in notated terms (eg, a note lasting 3.5 beats could be a dotted half tied to an eighth or a half tied to a dotted quarter), etc. So you'd have to coprrect a lot of things that would have been easdier to get right the first time entering directly as notation rather than indirectly as a sequence first then converted to notation.
