Tuplets

Why are tuplets not tuplets? They look like tuplets, but it does not follow the music theory. Please fix this--or did I miss something?

Also can bracket type be a slur type? Thanks

I have an issue of similar kind... I'm posting it here since it might be what tjvg91 is referring to.

Say I'm writing into a grand staff. I enter tuplets of different values over one another, as a polyrhythm. E.g. the treble cleff has a quaver in quintuplets and the bass cleff has a quaver in sextuplets; played together on the same beat.
If I save and re-open the file, there is a chance of one of the tuplet markings being dropped, corrupting the measure by making it longer (interpreting one of the tuplets as regular semiquavers).

FYI attaching a picture illustrating what I mean.

Hi, yeah there's a chance of it happening - doesn't happen in each case. However it in the end happend in all compositions containing such polyrhythms, the last one being with MuseScore 2.0.2 on Windows 7 (Professional, 64bit).
FYI Approx. 20 - 30 re-opens are usually needed.

Oh, I did not mean the file but any one, from your words “all compositions containing such polyrhythms”. I did one according to the above, to no luck; but 20—30 saves would not be too much an effort in making a new one? It would be a rare thing having a bug cornered this way, as they usually let themselves be caught on aftermath pictures. Or something else is the trigger.

I was copying a score (the 42nd one in the attached file) with a time signature of 4/2. I wanna use 3 separate half notes, and a triplet of quarter notes. Sadly the triplet only caters 8th notes in this case--which does not follow the theory behind tuplets.

Hope this can be fixed.

In order to understand what went wrong, we would need you to post the actual score you are having problems with, and the precise step by step instructions to reproduce the problem. I am guessing you are doing something incorrectly, bvecause triplets *do* normally work correctly. But it is certainly possible you have encountered som sort of rare special bug that only shows up in certain conditions that no one else has ever reported, which is why we need to see your score the steps to reproduce the problem in order to understand.

Have you read the Handbook section on tuplets? Is it possible the problem is as simple as you selecting quarter note rather than half note as the duration for the tuplet? You need to start by selecting the *total* duration of the tuplet, not the duration of its first note. So, select half note, then press Ctrl+#, and you should get what you want.
