Octave up line appears on tab staff
I have a staff for electric guitar with a linked tab staff. If I write notes on the treble clef with an octave up line the same line appears on the tab staff with the wrong frets e.g. a G just above the staff with an octave line should say 15th fret on the tab, but instead shows as 3rd fret with an octave line. I can't turn the octave off on the tab without it disappearing on the treble staff. Is it possible to unlink the two staves for a bar or have the octave only apply to one staff? Thanks.

This is a known issue that has proven hard to solve - see #29986: Ottava notes from music staff do not translate correctly to linked tablature. You should be able to mark the octave line invisible on the tab staff (click, press "V" or use Inspector).

I'm checking to see if this has been solved. I read the associated posts which seem to indicate that it's been fixed but that might just be turning the 8va on the tab line invisible. As I just checked the tablature numbers still remain in the wrong octave.

The issue got fixed, but then the fix got reverted, so the issue is open and active again

Thanks, just a lot of ledger lines for the time being then.

See the handbook: Change a linked staff/tablature pair to unlinked . "Unlinked staves … can be edited independently of one another".
