Guitar - linking tab and notation staves
Is it possible to notate guitar so that changes to tabulature are automatically reflected in a notation staff? This is one of the features I really like about Guitar Pro, but unfortunately GP is unstable and I'm looking for alternatives.
Thanks, and sorry if this has been asked before!

Indeed it is possible, and you even used the same term ("linked") that MuseScore uses. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tablature#multiple-staves.

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. Musescore is looking better and better!
To kickstart you, you can use the Guitar template when creating a new score. One of the template feature a standard staff and linked tablature staff.

Okay, but are you able to make a Trebble and Bass Clef: connect together with a TAB?

One tablature for both staves of a grand staff is not possible.
You will need to use a workaround that has the tablature independent from the grand staff. For example, you can create a single instrument staff (that's a tablature staff) and implode both staves of the grand staff onto this staff. The problem is that changes in the grand staff will not automatically update the tablature. You will need to delete any affected measures and implode them again.

Please can explain what you mean by implode both staves onto the tab staff?

Hi, following up on this. I can't seem to be able to link them once the score has already been created. I can't find that option in the properties. Is there a way to do that? Thanks

It is not in properties and you can't turn a non-linked staff into a linked one or vice versa. You can only add a linked staff in the add instruments dialog

I see, would it be possible to have that feature implemented so that a staff already created can be changed from unlinked to linked and vice versa?

No, as that would destroy content. At least the linking would (the unlinking might just keep stuff)
Just add a linked staff and delete the non-linked one

but before you delete it copy any notes you want to keep, from the non-linked to the new linked staff (or to the remaining staff which is now linked to the new liked (tab?) staff. Either way, your copied notes will appear in both of the linked staves.

What if MuseScore had a feature that linked staves by performing the actions that AndreasKågedal outlined.
In other words, if the user could choose a Link staves command Musescore would caution:
"When staves are linked in MuseScore they share essentially all notational content, therefore one of the staves you're linking must be discarded. Do you want to preserve the notational content of Staff A or Staff B?"
