Thank you. I did figure out the tie. Can you help with the beam however, this is what I am struggling with.

I don't understand - the beam looks entirely correct by default - just like your original example. You want to change it something non-standard? See the Handbook under "Beams" for more information on how to create other beaming possibilities.

I had a more basic misunderstanding of note timing. The first chord is 1/4. The last chord 1/2.
I could not figure out the middle part. Once I set the middle chord to 1/8, the C 1/16, the B 1/16 all was good. Still learning how to read music :(
