No idea how it became corrupt, so no idea how to prevent it.
You're by far not the first having this particular issue and probably won#t be the last
In MuseScore 3.5 (available as an Alpha) there have been measure put into place that should prevent this, but the real problem has never been fully understood, we've never been able to reproduce it
Corruption is always a bug in MuseScore, but in order to do anything further, we'd need to know more about how it happened. Like, a copy of the score before the corruption happened, and then precise steps that create the corruption. If you get to the point where you figure out how it happened, do let us know.

Try reverting to factory settings.
Attach the score causing the crash
Explain step-by-step how to get the crash

It started yesterday, it would crash randomly as well as crash when I save (ctrl-S)
Even if I open musescore and it is inactive (not in use) and I'm still using my laptop it'll crash unexpectedly
What does reverting to factory settings do?
Most probably one of the parts is corrupt and causes crashes on save and auto save (after 2 minutes)
Indeed, check the attached, I've deleted the Flute 1 part which apparently was corrupt and then regenerated it

It no longer crashes, thank you so so much!
3,5 Alpha doesn't crash on your original file BTW
