Editing drumset to change noteheads causes crash

• Jun 11, 2020 - 15:35

I want to change the noteheads in a tambourine (drumset) part on measure 106 from diamond to cross, but Musescore crashes every time I hit "okay." To reproduce, open the drumset editor, click "Tambourine" from the list of instruments on the left, change "Diamond" to "Cross" in the Notehead group dropdown menu and hit "Okay". I'm running Musescore 3.4.2.25137 on macOS Mojave V10.14.6. I've attached the score below.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently I can just change the noteheads with the notehead pallet, even though it's part of the drumset instrument. Feel free to delete this post, I can't figure out how.

But we should not ignore that crash, this should not happen, better report that with steps to reproduce in the issue tracker

Actually, though, it shouldn't work to change noteheads using the palette, not on a drum staff. That's because drum noteheads are supposed to be determined by the drumset definition. I think both the problems you are seeing are because that staff is not in fact properly defined as a drumset staff at all. Did you deliberately uncheck the Drumset box in the Mixer for it?

I'm not sure how important this is, but I realized afterwards that I was using the "percussion" instrument rather than "drumset." I'm still able to open the drumset editor, but it causes a crash. The drumset box in the mixer is unchecked, so I assume this is the reason. I'm not sure if I did that on my own at some point or if it's default. I was messing around with channel changes, so I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot to re-check it. Sorry for all the confusion!
