DPI Issue 150-175%

• Jul 2, 2020 - 18:06

I am having trouble running MuseScore in the 150-175% DPI range on a 1080p monitor, the menus and panel are very big.

I tried every combination of the DPI settings in the context menu- properties of MuseScore, it doesn't fix the issue.

I'm having the same issue, so when you figure it out, let me know. I have a Lenovo laptop (1080p) and usually you can change the DPI setting for applications. I've tried Application, System and System (Enhanced) and doesn't seem to change MuseScore. It does for other applications.

thanks alot man, i feel i am in my own world with this issue, both musescore an guitar pro is broke due to this, we must find some way to fix it, trying to replicate it on other peoples systems will help us track down the issue.

150% gives similar results for guitar pro at least.

Unfortunately, there just isn't a good standard for how different scaling settings should work. So different operating systems - including different versions of Windows - provide different options that do different things on the same monitor, or the same settings o different things on different monitors, and different applications interpret those things differently. It's kind of a trial and error process. You might find it works better to put the scaling back at the default but instead turn up your system font size. Or you might need to turn the font size down within MuseScore (in Edit / Preferences). Again, every system is different, so it's kind of impossible to give a one-size-fits-all solution.

you stil have icons and menu items in windows, scaling at 150% DPI is the correct and only way to do this to see icons and text in windows, every other application I have is working fine, its just these 2 ones that aren't, it will be the way it draws the panes and menus.

font size settings in musescore doesn't change pane and menu size, unless they add a option to adjust the size of that, you could do that as a solution.

I have uploaded my full settings and a screenshot of other applications that are working, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the screen shots.

Please answer these four questions:

  1. What is the physical size of the viewable area of your screen in inches, measured diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner? (Please use a tape measure, and measure as accurately as you can.)

  2. In the Windows Settings | System | Display dialog, if you open the Change the size of text, apps, and other apps drop-down list box, which setting has “(Recommended)” next to it? (You will first need to turn off custom scaling and sign out before being able to do this.)

  3. In the Windows Settings | System | Display dialog, if you open the Display resolution drop-down list box, which setting has “(Recommended)” next to it?

  4. Why is the window caption text unreadably tiny in most of your screen shots (not just MuseScore)?

  1. 15.4"
  2. 100%
  3. there is none
  4. that is another issue, I don't know why that is, but it is not somethig to fix here.

i am now on 125% i can use MuseScore and guitar pro now, it looks perfect, but text in explorer is too small, is there some way to blow it up.
