Repeats not working
Repeats do not work. Whether those are single measure repeats, multiple measure repeats, or repeats with different endings, the playback simply passes over the repeat bar and ignores any other signal in the score. I've uninstalled Musescore, installed again, reverted to factory settings, and nothing works. I'd greatly appreciate any help, and I'm sending a file just in case, even though it plays back normally (with repeats) on my friend's PC.

I think that you are viewing your score in Continuous View. If you switch to Page View, the repeats should work fine. Probably your friend is running an earlier version of MuseScore?
This is a recent bug (introduced in MS 3.5) - see issue #308698:
#308698: Continuous view stops repeats from working in playback

That is not the only switch needed. Also toggle Play Repeats (twice)

I have everything set up. Play repeats are on, Page View enabled, everything is right, except that the program doesn't work with that. I'm going to wait for the next update in hopes that this bug's fixed

To be 100% clear:
1) switch to Page View
2) Turn repeats off
3) turn them back on again
I think you are skipping step 2), but it's crucial. It works, I promise.

Hi - I'm having a similar problem in 3.6.2.
I've tried all of the above several times, incl. re-start the computer (mac) and then do the above steps.
What happens is the repeat sign will be blue as it should when I select it - click PLAY or spacebar - and it turns gray and they don't work.
Was working fine a couple days ago.

It did not work for me BUT I've found my problem !!
I had to look at the VOLTA option in the INSPECTOR. It was written number 2 instead of number 1 !!!
After the correction, everything worked !!

BINGO!!!
Thanks Mark. It was first time I've had this problem and I didn't even know that there was a "repeat" button, let alone it could be used to turn off "Jumps", etc.
Much appreciated,

Switched to Page View, still no repeat,
Toggled Play Repeats twice-- success
Thanks!

That indeed is/was the workaround for MuseScore 3.5.0. Fixed in 3.5.1, obsoleted by 3.5.2 -> Update ASAP!

This issue is back in 4.4.

I very much doubt it...
And I'm right:
The volta "1. 2. 3." has an empty (!) repeat list -> so it won't play at all. It needs "1,2,3"
The measure with the end repeat barline needs a play count of 4, but has just 2

And here's something else. If I open the above score, and it is already in Page View, repeats play properly. If I change to Continuous View, repeats do not work. If I then return to Page View, repeats also do not work.
If I save the score in Continuous View, and close it. Then reopen it, repeats don't work. Change to Page view, repeats don't work,
Take away seems to be that once playback is done in Continuous View, repeats are broken no matter what view you are in after that. So, on my system the score must be in Page View when it is opened for repeats to work Not a problem for me because that is the only view I use.

Everything you mention is already identified in the known issue:
#308698: Continuous view stops repeats from working in playback
And there is a workaround mentioned there as well: "... toggling repeats off then on again while in page view"

Hopefully it will work for the OP. That will be the test.
Mate I don’t know if this will serve to you as any help, but the same issue occurred to me in the very preceding day I write you this comment. As you stated, I was sure to have my “Play repeats” button on and even toggled off several times in order to see if it would somehow restart the system. I also installed the app again but it made no difference. No matter what I did the problem ensued repeatedly. I searched online for many tips and followed them step by step, even switched to page view with no success. I had eventually given up trying to make it work and went to bed. This morning I opened my score again and it miraculously worked without any complications. My point is that this is indeed a major and recurrent bug, one that must be seen to by MS, and it really doesn’t have a solid explanation. It may not work in one day or the other but it will in the next. If there’s anyone else reading this, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. File a report concerning this to musescore and they’re sure to update the app

When 3.5.1 gets released in about a week it will be fixed so there's no need to file bug reports. If you would like to test it you can download a 3.x development build from https://musescore.org/en/download#Development-builds. They exist for all 3 supported platforms. It will coexists with 3.5 and changes to a score you make in the development build will be seen when you load a saved score into 3.5 with no compatibility issues.
If you've tried everything else mentioned herein, and are using "nested repeats" - that is, a repeated section with start/end bar lines and a Segno and corresponding D.S. (entered Segno first, then D.S.) that contains the repeated bars - to get the original repeated bars to play on subsequent passes, click on the D.S. and in the Inspector, make sure "Play Repeats" box is checked. That has driven me nuts more than once, because I'm an infrequent user.

Was having problems with a simple piece meant to be repeated 3 times (it only repeated twice), but found that you can have a different Play Count set in the final bar properties for a Part (Play count set to 3), to that set in the Main score (Play count set to 2), but it only uses the Play Count from the main score and ignores what is set in the Part. Musescore 3.5.2. Once the main score play count was set to 3 it worked fine.

Should be fixed in 3.6, see #257581: Changes to Measure properties are not propagated between score and existing linked parts after save/reload

That is the workaround for 3.5.0 and older.
As much as I loved this program at start and the simplicity of it, after version 3 I think, everything was changed. You cant select anymore with the cursor as I used to. Now it moves the page. I haven't found any work around this but I am still looking. Now as for the repeats, they work fine the first time through the score, but when I used DS or DS al Coda, it will not repeat the |: :| but just go through it all the way to the end, and it will not follow the Coda signs I am using either.

I think you might be confused, nothing changed about selection between MuseScore 1, 2 & 3, nor will it change in 4. All of the standard methods of selection work as they always have: the most efficient normally being to click on element, then Shift+click another same s in all other computer programs, but also, click one element and use Shift plus the cursor keys to navigate (again, same as all other programs). If what you're selecting happens to be all visible on screen at the same time, you can also select purely with the mouse by holding Shift while dragging - this hasn't changed in years either. See the Handbook section on Selection to learn more about all the different ways of selecting in MsueScore. No method has every gone away; museScore has simply added new ones over the years.
Anyhow, if you're having some sort of problem involving repeats, best to start a new thread and attach your score and describe in more detail. It's normal in music notation that repeats aren't taken on a DS, but if you write in an explicit instruction to the human musicians to tell them to go ahead and take them anyhow and want to get MuseScore to do this also, just check the Play Repeats box for the DS in the Inspector.
