Vertical Spacing

• Dec 18, 2020 - 11:10

Hi everyone

I'm preparing a score of a song, and I want the chorus to be all on page 2. The chorus is only 5 lines long and I've put a page break at the end of the page 2. This is fine but the 5 lines only take up about 2/3rds of the vertical space. I can add spacers to make it open out, but is there a way of asking MuseScore to automatically space those 5 lines across the page vertically, with an equal distance in between?

To be clear, though: the current versions of MuseScore already spreads systems out to fill out a page, up to the limit given in Format / Style / Page / Max system distance. So as mentioned, simply increasing that value already allows the page to be filled more completely.

What's new with 3.6 is that in addition to spreading the systems out to fill the page, MuseScore will also spread out staves within a system. This can be useful especially in scores for many instruments, as a relatively amount of space between each staff will fill the page out nicely

But if your score has only a single staff - which I am assuming is the case since you say five lines of music don't already fill the page - then the new staff spread is irrelevant - there is nothing to spread. You want the system spread, which MuseScore has had for years. Again, just turn up the Max system distance.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score so we can understand and assist better.

Good morning everyone!

The launch information has these guidelines:
As important as our new style of notation is our new vertical layout system. This is enabled by default for new scores and can also be enabled for older scores. It is a huge improvement in how the staves are arranged vertically and you will save hours of work, significantly reducing your dependence on vertical spacers and manual adjustment.
Could you guide me step by step how to learn to use this wonderful resource?

Which is why my request for help is that part of the writings in the "Page" window are in English. As you know, I'm from Brazil and I don't speak English perfectly

Much obliged!
