It is available to add to the toolbar but doesn't seem to be there by default.
Look at [View]>[Toolbars]>[Customise Toolbars]>[Playback controls].

Thank you. Hopefully this will be added to tool bar again. I use it a lot with playback during this pandemic with my clarinet accompaniments.

If you use it a lot, just add it and it will stay there.
It is not there in 3.5 or any 3.x or even 2.x either, so this is not a 3.6 ommission, but by design.
If you added it to 3.5, it will be in 3.6, once that get released, the current RC uses a different set of settings
So let’s make this into a feature request for it.
Workaround is obviously to use the one from the play dialogue.
Why add more clutter to the toobar by default?

There’s a difference between “by default” and not (merely having it available).
I agree it does not need to be added by default, but it should still be addable by users.

Ah right. It is there. I (mis?)read the reporter as saying it was not there.
