Update to MuseScore 3.6
I am using MuseScore 3.5, and MuseScore 3.6 just came out. The handbooks say that there are two update controls, one at Help/Check for Updates and the other at Edit/Preferences/Update. However, neither of those exist on my program; no Check for Updates button and no Update window in Preferences. How, the, do I go about updating my MuseScore? It has some new features to which I am really looking forward.

Automatic update has not yet been enabled.
If you want to update now, just download it from the Download page or the announcement and install it

Yes, but Windows blocked the installation. It isn't the Firewall, so there's no override button. Microsoft Store shows it's already installed. Should I uninstall and then reinstall?

3.6 is not (yet) available in the store

3.5 isn't in the store either, the Microsoft Store still has 3.3.4, see #313298: MuseScore in Microsoft Store is outdated, still at 3.3.4; remove link on Download page
What is your operation system? I use the AppImages for my LinuxMint20.1 and there are no update options, too. I simply download the new AppImage and replace it with the old one.

You mean this message I guess ? Same thing here for me - really first time I encounter this when downloading a new version - about Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
No matter, it's enough to click "Run it anyway" ('Exécuter quand même', in French!), and everything is fine.

Yes, you can still run this by selecting the relevant option at the bottom of the dialog.

Thank you very much! I had to hit the Show More Info button, and then the Run Anyway button appeared. It's installing now.

NP. That should not be showing to any Windows users. We'll get on it.
Can I ask: how did you chose to install? Was it due to an automatic prompt from the MuseScore desktop app or did you download directly from the .org page?

I downloaded the executable from the .org page under Download/Software. I hope you get it fixed!
