Musecore Keeps CORRUPTING my Sound Card

• Jan 14, 2021 - 02:07

My Musescore 3.5.2 recently started making making loud static noise recently. I had been messing around with the Windows 10 sound settings a little while back in order to accomodate a Jamulus session but Musescore did behave normally after that for a couple of weeks at least. Then all of a sudden the white noise started showing up.

What makes this different (and more annoying to me) from similar complaints about white noice / static posts elsewhere is that once I've started up Musescore the only one way to get the sound back on the entire (Levono Flex5) laptop is to do a full restart.

One explanation for a restart working is that it also restarts the Windows Audio Endpoint Service. But doesn't explain why this happens to begin with. One of many possibilities is that a driver update might be needed. Or even a delete and reinstall of the current driver.

I'm assuming that when I was with the Lenovo Chat Tech. Help folks that's what we did, uninistall / reinstall drivers, although I can't say for sure whether s/he reinstalled the "Windows Audio Endpoint Service."

So I'm doing a restart of the three elements mentioned here. - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-sound-problems-in-windo…
I just wanted to thank you in the meantime.

Nope, none of that helped. - Dave

"Running Musescore 3.5.2 and as soon as I turn it on all sound functions throughout system yield nothing but static. Issue only gets resolved by restarting and then problem returns every time I start Musescore."

I'm not sure what it was set to, Bob. I think the digalage box simply said that it wasn't set to the default setting and offered the option. I had been monkeying around with Jamulus several weeks ago and something may have occurred at that time but the problem only kicked in a week or so later, or at least that's when I noticed it.
