Why does my note value change when I play chords

sorry mate, let me try to explain it here, so when I use note input mode (manual), my note value will double when I play chords but that doesn't happen when I play single notes. May I know how can I solve this?

More information - and the actual score - is needed to help you here. I suspect it's something to do with Voices, but can only guess - https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices

Yes, each staff has up to 4 voices (meaning a piano has 8, 4 on each staff)

Can you back up and give us precise step by step instructions to reproduce this? Apparently you are using MIDI input, that wasn't clear at first. I gather also you are using the real-time manual method. So tell us exactly which duration you selected on the toolbar as your beat, how you are manually advancing the beat, etc.

Hi, I am using MIDI keyboard as input and have set the pedal as the key for advancing (time) in Real Time - Manual mode. (museask1.png)
I then press middle C (museask2.png) and I hold it down.
I then tab the pedal (or hold it down). what appears is 3 crochets tied but I just want to advance to the next beat (museask3.png).
why is this? I thought I hold down a note, and tab the advance key (pedal) the number of times I want for the duration of the note in number of beats / minimal duration ?

If you hold the middle C down and repeatedly press the pedal to advance to the next beat, what else but a (set of tied) note(s) should it mean?

Sorry, I don't understand your question.
I press the middle C and tap the pedal ONLY ONCE and very briefly and what happens is captured in the screen image. I want it to advance by 1 beat not 3. What am I doing wrong?
May I ask why does my note become triple the value when I only tapped the chord on the MIDI keyboard and the advance key only once with real Time(manual)? Is there something I should check or settings to change? btw, I use real time(manual) mode on piano scores, using a MIDI keyboard.

Actually, even when I play a simple melody, the note value just tripled when I tapped the advance key(the pedal) only once, as you can see on this image.

How sure are you that your advance key is only sending one trigger message when pressing it?

Funny, I just encountered something like this trying to use my digital piano. It happens only with the sustain pedal, the soft pedal works fine. I'm guessing there are extra messages being sent to support half-pedaling.
