OS X file Quick View ;)
I know, there are much more important things, but those of us who use OS X knows how useful is Quick View: it would be useful and also nice to have Musescore file preview with the OS X quick view and maybe also on the icon as with many other types of documents.
Have a good day ;)

A working prototype has been created but it needs more polishing before this can be rolled out. If you are a developer and want to take on this task, you are very welcome.
unfortunately I am not a developer, I would have liked.
Well, I look forward to this and other big news. I follow you with interest.
Thank you.

I wouldn't expect to see the full score or have the ability to play it back in a QuickLook preview, but simply viewing a thumbnail of the first page shouldn't be difficult, should it? Especially because MuseScore 2 already does save thumbnail images in MSCZ files.

Playback is not necessary in my opinion. A PDF-style multi-page preview would be fantastic.

Indeed it would be—but to my mind a first-page thumbnail is the minimum acceptable (again, that thumbnail image is already created and saved inside the MSCZ file—it just needs to be exposed).
excellent suggestion!
See also https://musescore.org/en/node/28686. Note that the original poster says "Maybe an option in the program that lets you save a tiny image of the first page as part of the file?"—that, at least, is now actually part of the structure of an MSCZ file.
This is the feature I miss the most in MuseScore.

We're still looking for a developer to take this challenge :) - https://musescore.org/en/node/57886#comment-267571

And I'll say again that just the thumbnail of the first page would be more than adequate.

No access to a Mac, nor the time for it; but as general info for other developers, see the following:
//developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/Quicklook_Programming_Guide/Introduction/Introduction.html and more specifically //developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/Quicklook_Programming_Guide/Articles/QLSaveInDocument.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40005020-CH10-SW4 could be a pointer in a possible direction.

Hello, unfortunately I'm not a developer, but I'd enjoy this feature on Windows Explorer as well :-)
Any idea if that idea has been developed?
Thanks :-)

No, it hasn't yet

Just another idea that might be easier to implement: extend the "Start Center" as a universal explorer. So the user can parse through the files with a preview of the scores - just as demanded.

I'd like to renew this idea: what about an extension of the start center with preview of all files in a selected directory. I assume that this would be helpful for many users.

You mean Finder?
Try file > open for that..

@jeetee That's not a preview. It will just open the file in MuseScore.
In reply to That's not a preview. by RobFog
I responded to the comment in which it was basically proposed than rather to fix the preview for Finder, to pretty much implement a full file browser instead; which to me sounds very much like reinventing the wheel.
Should this be a feature request in the tracker? Searched https://musescore.org/de/project/issues/musescore for quickview and found not a single entry.
