New MuseScore SoundFont File?

• Oct 17, 2021 - 23:10

Hi, gang!!!

Was there some upgrading of the "standard" MuseScore SoundFont File? ???

I'm asking because I use 3 PCs, all with Ubuntu Studio 20.04.3 LTS and MuseScore 3.6.2 AppImage and I don't have seen some upgrading here.

But, a friend of mine, which has a PC with MS-Windows 10, had an upgrading of that file, yesterday, October, 16th, 2021. Of course, he asked me about that. So... ???

Some idea? ???

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

Juan

I could be out of the loop on this, but I'm not aware of any recent updates - not to the default soundfont, not to the HQ version either. What did he see that led him to believe there was an update? Maybe he had a very old version of the HQ version and for some reason only updated to 1.2 yesterday even though it's been out for a long time already?

Indeed, there have been changes made internally (perhaps others too), but nothing released to my knowledge. Resource manager still offers 1.2.0 for me. But of course, the resource manager basically doesn't work anyhow, right? Unless you have an incredibly fast internet connection that can get the whole extension before the timeout..,

As far as I know the resource manager does work, mostly. It doesn't for everyone though, and indeed the speed of the Internet connection seems to be playing a role there. But if the resource manager still shows 1.2.0, that new update Os not yet available via this mechanism and I'm at loss as far as the OP's question is concerned

Now I have all the picture!!!
My friend has the old MuseScore version before 3.6.2 (3.3.x I guess) and the PC hasn't been used for a long time.
So, a lot of things was upgrading on that device, including the soundfont file.
Sorry, folks. It's my fault, because I didn't get all the necessary data.
Thanks a lot for your time.
