For whatever reason, some of the notes I typed were just tightly squeezed together at the end of the measure while others are not. I tried to even them out by creating new rows/deleting rows, but it did not work. It is sort of like a "align text right/justify text" problem but with sheet music? How do I fix it?

Regression vs. what?
What is the workaround?
Score needed, the image doesn't help
And very certainly not critical, which is for crashes and corruptions

Just delete the system breaks (those grey boxes with bent arrows above the end of each line). Then you can put them in more sensible places in accordance with your preference. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/breaks-and-spacers#breaks
That probably won't help with the excess space before the 1st note of these measures

Yes, good point. An example of why the .mscz file is pretty much essential for correct diagnosis of s problem.
Looks like you accidentally dragged a whole bunch of notes to the right. To reset them, select the notes with the problem and then check the Inspector and click the reset buttons for the X offset and leading space. And in the future, don't drag notes, it's not designed to work that way.
If that's not it, then as mentioned, please attach your score.
