Crescendo between accented eighth notes not working
I have a crescendo hairpin from p to mf, spanning across 2 bars of accented eighth notes. All eighth notes are either tenuto or marcato tenuto.
How come it simply isn't functioning?

Score needed, images don't sound...

You don't need sound to know it doesn't change in volume :)
P.S. I tried ffff to see if I was just volume-blind, same thing.

with just the image we can't help resolve this.

The problem could be anywhere - hairpin attached incorrectly, settings wrong in the Inspector, inappropriate sound selected in Mixer as per the single note dynamics setting for the staff, etc. That's why we need an actual score.

Score needed you make a mistake
This looks like a piano part. If so, remember that a piano can't respond to single note dynamics. As these two measures are at the moment it works for me if I put the mf on the second measure and have the hairpin in the first measure only. Unless there are notes in the third measure. Then the mf needs to go there. But the second measure still won't crescendo if this is a piano.

Wait, but it's not on one note? If I have the mf on the hairpin in won't even change, and if I have it seperate, it only changes once it hits mf

Here is a file that illustrates what I'm talking about. Make sure piano is selected.
In the first set , the hairpin works up to the beginning of the second measure. Then the first note of the third measure completes the hairpin. Measure two doesn't work because this is a piano sound. In the second set, the hairpin works all the way to measure four. The third set is like what you posted. The hairpin doesn't work because the final dynamic is at the end of the bar. The dynamic is associated with the beginning of the whole note but the end of the hairpin is associated with the end of measure six. It's like they cancel each other out. Select the hairpin and drag the right box to the left until it associates with the end of measure five. Then it will work like set two. If this were a bassoon line, the third set would still not work. But the first two would.
