Symptom
MuseScore 4 will not open when clicking the MuseScore 4 shortcut The splash screen always come up but then dissapears and nothing after that.
How to make it happen
Just click the musescore 4 shortcut.
The workaround
the workaround is to reboot the computer, then the program will open it. But if you close the program and try to run it again it will not open. stopping the musescore 4 exe in task manager has no effect. Not when looking in taskmanager, when the problem occurs it says the program exe is suspended.
I am using:
musescore 3.6, Windows 10, Studio 5, Notion 6, Final Printmusic, coolsoft virtual midi, cakewalk, Bitwig, StaffPad, Audacity

MuseScore 4 cannot open
It shows the splash screen for a few seconds, and then nothing happens. Nothing shows up in task manager either. I have reinstalled Muse Hub and MuseScore 4 and restarted my computer twice and it is still like this. No workaround

I encountered the same problem as the original poster's, and your proposed solution seems to point out to what was wrong in my case. I did had as a primary audio output a WASAPI device with 6 channels. As long as this device was selected as Windows' running/primary audio device, MuseScore would not complete its launch sequence and would never open.
Switching to a stereo device worked quite well.

I can confirm the problem seems to revolve around the audio output device that is selected.
Automatically closed -- issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
