Why can't I play MU4 pieces through my headphones?
When I work in an environment where other people are present, I'd prefer if I could use headphones, in order not to annoy those others present in the room. Testing with my favourite radio station, my headphones work quite alright; that leads me to think that there is a setting in MU4 over-riding the laptops headphone settings.

I forgot to mention that MU3 does play through headphones.

Connect the headphones before starting MS4. In Edit,Preferences,I/O select your headphones. Every system is different. Try anything but Default.

Thanks Bob,
plugging in the headphones before starting MS4 did the trick.
As an aside: Is there an "official" abbreviation for MuseScore 4? I've seen MS4, MU4 and there are probably some others such as Mus4.

To me "MS" is to close to MicroSoft, so I use "Mu". But as far as I can tell there's no official abbreviation

I may never use 'MS' again. In my home, the one MS computer is kept in a dark, locked room. Unplugged. Shunned.
