Staff type change
Is it possible to combine, in the same staff, 5 lines with 1 line? Like, 4 bars with 1 line, 4 bars with 5 lines, and then back to 1 line, with "staff type change"? I just can't find a way to use this function properly. The image in the file was a workaround with two instruments: one with "invisible staff lines" enabled and the other one "invisible staff lines" disabled, combined with "hide empty staves within systems" in Format > Style. But I really wanted 1 line showing, instead no lines at all.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but every time I change the staff type from 1 to 5 and back to 1 line, everything changes to 1 line. I’ll try again following what the link suggests and post here with the results tomorrow. Thanks.

Check the handbook link again and read through it all - in your case you should select your desired measures and then use the staff change symbol in the Layout palette.

Nope. Not working. I selected only 1 measure right in the middle of the song. Everything changed to 1 line.

"The properties that can be altered for the "Staff type change" in the Properties panel are:
...
...
...
* Number of lines
Change the number of lines making up the staff"
Where exactly is this function above in the Propertiies panel? I only find it in Staff/Part properties clicking on a measure with a blue lined box.

According to the Handbook link above it is in the Layout Palette, i.e. not Staff Properties. I use MS3, not 4, so I don’t know where your palettes are, but there is an image in the Handbook 4 link here: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/palettes

Well, I guess this was not implemented in MS4 yet, because in MS3 it worked just fine. So, back to square one.

Would you mind describing, step by step, what you did? Because it didn't work here. If i change any of those square boxes, everything changes to whatever lines I choose in Staff/Properties, no matter what.

Got you. I was not clicking the icon in order to see it in the properties panel. I was clicking the measure and trying to change it from Staff/Part Properties. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help.

As a matter of fact, it is doing quite the opposite of what it should do, in my case. For example: If I click on the measure below the second square, whatever the lines I choose in staff properties, the very first 3 measures respond to what i did to the measure below that type of layout, instead of changing only from that point on.
