How to put things in brackets and what is this in the blue circle and how can I copy this?

I want to copy this piece on Musescore as is so I can listen to it and print a better-quality sheet.
How can I put fermata in brackets (upper red circle), and the lower two notes in brackets (lower red circle)?
And what is this in the blue circle and how can I copy this?

For the bottom red circle (the quarter notes in square brackets), I added staff text, entered start_bracket, space, space, end_bracket. Then I sized it bigger (this was 22 point) and moved it with the Offset values under Appearance until it was in the right place.

Presumably, you could do the same thing with the fermata. I just didn't try.

Oh, and the grayed-out rests are Voice 2. I placed the quarter notes in Voice 2. Since there's nothing else there, MuS fills in rests. They are not "visible", so they will not print, and you can hide them in the display by un-checking View / Show / Show Invisible. I always leave such invisible rests in place in case I have to change something in the future.

Wow! Yes, brute force could work, but could need manual adjustment each time you switch view/ instrument visibility and printing.
I'm now questioning the necessity of these brackets and what they mean, do they mean that it is optional? Anyway, I remember on Musescore 3 there is a way of putting things in brackets, I used it to mark courtesy accidentals, but it can be used for other things such as fermata too, but it is now gone on Musescore 4.
Thank you for trying and showing me a workaround on how it could be done. I appreciate it.

In MuS 4, you can put parentheses ( ) on notes and accidentals, but I've not found how to add them to most other elements ... and I can't find how to add square brackets [ ], angle brackets < >, or curly braces { } to anything except the beginnings of staves. Except for this "staff text" idea.
