How can I notate a tempo rubato? So without any (hidden) bars, and completely free in notation.
So far the tips I read here didn't work.

No hidden bars should be needed, just hidden tempo markings, and they work just fine. You can either add them manually or use the most excellent Tempo Changes plugin (see Downlaod menu above).

I don’t think I understand this. I removed barlines, but noticed that it continues as if I was writing for example 4/4. I’m looking for a way that I can completely freely write rubato melodies.

Oh, you didn't say anything about removing barlines, I thought you just wanted the tempo to vary. So do you actually mean completely non-metered music? That's different, such music can be rubato but doesn't need to be. Probably best to attach a sample of what you mean so we can understand and assist better.
Anyhow, to create meterless music, easiest is to join and split ordinary measures as needed using Tools / Measure.

Well, I guess I'm having trouble understanding what a rubato melody is. To me, "meterless" has to do with the notation of a melody. "Rubato" is more about the performance. Meterless music can still be played in strict rhythm. Something written in a meter (4/4) can be played rubato so that the meter is not obvious.
As Marc says, please tell us more.

😀I’ll give it a try. But it doesn’t help that I’m not a native speaker in English. What I mean is a completely free melody, without a meter, and lots of ornaments and freedom for the singer in this case. I’ll add an example in the attachment

Yes, this is meterless music, not the same as rubato. Did you try the split and join commands in Tools / Measure? They should do the job nicely. If you have trouble, please attach your score as you have it so far and we can assist further.

Hello, is Tempo Changes the name of this plugin? I couldn't find it in the downloads.
And is rubato in musescore somewhere to click like everything else? Even if it doesn't work in playback.
Or do I need to just create it in the tempo palette?
