Issues with deleting measures on Mac?
Several of my students using MacOS are having difficulty deleting measures. The default keyboard shortcut doesn't seem to work, and neither did their first attempts at redefining the shortcut. Even the menu item (Delete selected measures) was not working. certain keyboard shortcuts would work, others wouldn't. And then suddenly the menu item started working for them. other students using Macs were not having problems aside from the need to override the default shortcut - the menu worked for them from the beginning, and the first redefinition they tried for the shortcut worked.
I'm not a Mac guy, but I understand that windows and MacOS have a different notion of how to interpret Delete versus Backspace keys, and this probably has something to do with this. Also the whole cmd versu ctrl thing. But I did a search, and didn't come upon any discussion of this issue in particular. Are others on Macs not seeing any issues with deleting measures, or am I just not finding the right thread?

I don't remember any report regarding this issue. The menu should always work. The shortcut could be more challenging. By default, on my old white macbook, I need to press Fn + Cmd + backspace. I could be different on a new macbook pro or an iMac

Interesting that you have that problem, because that's one I haven't experienced with my Mac using MuseScore. There are other problems though, like being able to highlight an articulation so I can set it invisible, or getting the transpose menu in the panel to open. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. I find that if you do some more work on a score when things don't work; like enter some notes, then suddenly they work again. Can't figure out why.

Selecting an articulation is much easier if you first zoom in. As for the transpose menu not showing up, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean you select Notes->Transpose with a score open and nothing happens? I've never seen that.
Anyhow, as for my original problem, all my students now have this working (as far as I know) by customizing their shortcuts. I have no doubt the del/backspace issue and the ctrl/cmd/apple issue (different systems interpreting keystrokes these differently) is at the heart of whatever was going on. If anyone ever can give a really good / precise description of the different types of Macs and Macs keyboards as they relate shortcuts in MuseScore, that would be wonderful, but I guess it,s not really getting in anyone's way, which is good.
