Adding new page

• Oct 23, 2017 - 14:50

New to Musescore. Have written 1 page of music, then at end of page don't know how to continue onto new page. Have dragged a Page Break to end of final bar, but that does not create a new page. Help!

The pages work like a word processor. They are only added when needed. Usually as you enter notes into measures they become wider and, if there are enough, the ones at the end will eventually get pushed to the next page, which is created only when needed. You can of course force a new page to be created by inserting a page break between two existing measures.

You can most definitely force a premature page break just like you can in a word-processor. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/breaks-and-spacers (it even uses the same default shortcuts as most of them).
But a page break alone doesn't give you measures to notate music on. Layout really should only happen after you've entered your music, as entering music in itself already alters the layout. And the way to enter more music is to append measures and not to append pages.

Why tons? Add only as many as you need. They expand as you add notes, so the new pages are created the moment it is actually needed. No need to waste your time telling MsueScore when to add new pages, it already nows. Just like a word processor, you don't need to "add pages", you just add words and new pages appear as necessary.
