MS Sound Files on SMP
I came across the Sheet Music Plus site. My question is, Are MS playback sound files in MP-3 format, or can they be put into MP-3 format so they can be uploaded to SMP? (My own copyrighted work, I mean.) DO Musescorers use SMP a lot? Am I right that MS.com sound is MP-3?

MuseScore can export into any of several formats - for example, MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, and MIDI. Pick which one you want when you do File / Export. There is no situation in which MuseScore picks the format itself - you are always in control of this.
On musescore.com I do believe mp3 is used behind the scenes, but I wouldn't be concerned with that - just export the audio yourself. Or use the Download option on musescore.com and choose which format you want (MP3 and MIDI are offered as options).
If you don't have lame installed on your computer you will either need to install it or upgrade to generate mp3 files from the program. You can download the mp3 from MuseScore.com if you prefer without any upgrades.

Note that it won't be necessary to install LAME if you have a recent version of MuseScore (2.2 or later). Just something else to consider as you think about updating.

He has 2.1 and he's contemplating weather he wants to upgrade.
