Text does not fit in styles windows
Hi, today i noticed that many strings don't fit in many dialog boxes, especially the styles dialog box. I dont know if this is because of my screen settings or maybe the translation is longer than the original english string. I cant even resize the dialog box to make it show all the text.

That only makes the list bigger but it does not give more space to the content. I use the appimage on debian.

(Mint) Sorry, I misunderstood (there was a previous conversation/issue). I don't know if it would be a good idea, in Transifex, to use the line interruption

Maybe this: https://musescore.org/en/node/280149
It seems the size was optimized for the English version (which was the original)
but chops of some words in translations
I'm curious if it's possible to put a return (new line) in a translation so the width of some certain descriptions will be shorter like Distancia entre la barra de compás y la nota de adorno so it will show
Distancia entre la barra de compás y
la nota de adorno
It wouldn't be sufficient for Federico's display, but it would work for mine. I'm not sure what kind of display settings Federico has. Does the English get chopped of for you also?

@Shoichi, yours looks good in English and has problems in both Italian and Spanish, which is no surprise to me.
I'm going to see what happen when I put a return into Transifex, just to see what happens.

Maybe we should have an adjustable edge for the middle section as well.

I think that would complicate making the style window, but I'm not sure.
I just realized, the translation has been reviewed and I can't change it to test it. @Shoichi, perhaps you could do a test in Italian if you're a reviewer.

Do we have to wait until the next 15 to try or (maybe) use a Nightly?

Usually 15 minutes max. until the next tx2s3 job runs and fetches the translations from Transifex and then offers them for update in MuseScore. On average just 7.5 minutes ;-)

My screen resolution is 1366x768, appimages sometimes have problems with fonts and display settings. I havent changed any default settings. Some translations could be shorter anyway, "nota de adorno" could be just "adorno" and in that context it would be understadable.

You could also test the possibility of inserting a return character on a line. I know Transifex shows it in the translation, I just don't know what happens when it displays in the program.

I am afraid to break something and not know how to fix it! haha I can mark that string as unreviewed so you can handle it. I lowered my font size but i still get the same thing.
The english version looks fine

Which string did you mark as unreviewed for me to play with? Let me know and I'll check it out when I get home in an hour or two.

"Distancia entre la barra de compás y la nota de adorno", it should be barline to grace note distance or something like that.

Workaround. Although not very elegant, while waiting for a solution can you use an abbreviation? For example...: D./Dist. But it might not be enough.

After changing the translations for several things and waiting far more than 15 minutes, there is no update for the nightly for the Spanish translation, so I can't check the results of adding the return to the translation.

I do see Spanish updates

The next day, I still don't see any updates since I updated some of the Spanish translations yesterday (US time), though I haven't looked at their reviewed status. I have a nightly from a few days ago I've been keeping in Spanish for this since you said I can get updates, I keep the stable 3.0 assigned to system (English) and the update there does not show my translation efforts as expected.

Like I said, I expected version 3.0 to not have updates. I didn't think about the nigthly needing to be after the 3.0 string freeze, so I updated my nightly, found the Spanish update and found out that placing a return in the middle of the string doesn't affect the display in the window.
I guess we need to open an issue report about this.

The linefeed thing may be by design.
On buttons, like those for updating translations, it does work though (the failure string was too long in German, so I used a linebreak to split it)

When I updated to the current Spanish translation with the return character in the translation for "Barline to grace note distance:" which is in measures under style, it doesn't include the return. Something needs to be done to fix the issue. I'm not sure if it's best to allow the return to be included in what's displayed or if making the window accommodate the text is better.

Let me know if you want me to abbreviate those strings a bit. Also screen resolution may be an issue, i have 1366x768 and get more truncated strings than you.

I see the differences between our screens. As I said in my issue report, my styles window takes up the entire screen. The picture I included is a screen shot.
I would like to avoid needing to shorten translations if possible. As I said, Spanish probably isn't the only language that has a phrase too long for the allocated space. It needs to be fixed inside of MuseScore.
